I BROUHGT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE CITY COUNSEL AND THE ANSWER FROM THE MAYOR WAS QUEENSBURY REQUESTED AN ENLARGED NUMBER OF ROUTES IN THE TOWN OF QUEENSBURY WHICH INCREASED OUR AVERAGE , OUR PERCENTAGE OF TRAVEL ON THE BUS FROM 22% TO 30 % AND REDUCED THE Y OF GLENS FALLS 62% TO 52% THAT IS WHY THE DIFFERENCE OCCURED. SOMEA ROM THE TOWN REQUESTED MORE MILEAGE IN THE TOWN THEN HAD BEEN IN THE ORIGINAL PROPOSAL WHICH UPPED OUR PERCENTAGE THEY DID THE ALLOCATION OF EXPENSES ON THE BASIS OF THE NUMBER OF MILES IN THE MUNICIPALITY AND WE HAVE 30%. . .THE BUS GARAGE WILL BE BUILT IN THE CITY AND WILL HOLD SIX BUSSES THIS WILL BE FUNDED BY PUBLIC MONIES FROM STATE AND FEDERAL FUNDS. THE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM WILL RUN MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY FROM SIX A. M. TO SIX P. M. THEY WANT TO START THE SYSTEM AROUND THE FIRST OF JUNE. THE PROPOSAL IS A FIFTY CENT FARE - WITH A TEN CENT TRANSFER FEE. . . THERE ARE SEVEN ROUTES WITH SEVEN COMMUNITIES INVOLVED. . . �. SUPERVISOR WALTER-I WAS VERY UNHAPPY THAT THIS WAS SCHEDULED DURING A VACATION WEEK AND PARTICULARILY DURING A WEEK WHEN THE ASSOCIATION OF r TOWNS MEETING WAS IN PROGRESS WHEN MANY REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE TOWN 1 WHO HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS WERE COMMITTED OUT OF THE AREA. . . COUNCILMAN MORRELL- THERE WAS NO ONE FROM MOREAU OR FORT EDWARD AT THE HEARING. . . COUNCILMAN OLSON- WOULD THE CITY OWN AND OPERATE THIS SYSTEM? COUNCILMAN EISENHART-WE DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO W'I'TH THAT. . . COUNCILMAN MORRELL- THERE IS A $300 ,000 BUDGET FOR THE BUS GARAGE IT WILL HOUSE SIX 32 PASSENGER BUSSES WITH A REPAIR AREA. . . SUPERVISOR WALTER- DID ANYONE HAVE A CHANCE TO APPROVE THE ROUTES? JOB COUNCLLMAN MORRELL- THERE WILL BE ANOTHER WORKSHOP , THE ROUTES WILL BE PUT INTO EFFECT AND THEN MAKE MODIFICATIONS IF NECESSARY . SUPERVISOR WALTER- NOTED THAT THERE WERE ONLY TWO MEETINGS THAT THE TOWN WAS INVITED TO IN REGARD TO THE BUS SYSTEM COUNCILMAN MORRELL- AT THIS MEETING THERE IS PROPOSED THREE RUNS TO WEST GLENS FALLS , TEN UP GLEN STREET AND SEVEN UP BAY ROAD TO ACC. WITH A MODIFIED SCHEDULE ON SATURDAYS. . .THERE WILL BE DISCOUNTS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS AND THE HANDICAPPED AND A TICKET POLICY FOR STUDENTS. . . THE NEXT STEP WILL BE DRAWING UP THE CONTRACTS WITH THE' COMMUNITIES . . . COUNCILMAN EISENHART- EXPRESSED HIS DOUBTS ABOUT THE ROUTE TO THE COLLEGE , REFERRED TO PREVIOUS EXPERENCE WITH PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION TO THE COLLEGE THAT WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL. . .
