A 5-bedroom residence has a daily effluent discharge of 550
gallons. With a percolation rate of 1-5 min. per inch, an
absorption bed to handle this gallonage will require
560/.95 or 580 sq.ft. Required horizontal separation
di.stces shown on the "Plan view" must be met. The
proposed bed, to give a separation distance of 20 ft. from
the anio residence, will be 14 ft. wide by 41 1/2 ft. long..
Three 4" din. perf pipe distribution lines spaced 4.75 ft.
0 . C . with an outboard clearance of 2.25 f t . to the edge of
the bed will satisfy bed -width requirements. See the bed
layoot plan for overall dimensions. The residence is
supplied with „town" drinking water_,

Abler exce4ation and the installation of the bed, "D" box &
pipe, 8.. of sandy loam should be placed on top of the bed,
followed by aspprox. 4" of topmail. This will provide a
suitable "cover" to discourage any short-circuiting of the
leachate to the surface.

The Septic tank should be pamped out at optimum intervals
to:prevent carry -aver of any solids to the absorption area.
