Project: Renovations and Alterations to 68 Quaker Road
Subject: 20-Minute Rated Corridor Doors and Frames (2010-02 Acc^D4G)
Dear John:
The Contract Documents for the above mentioned project require that the existing re-used doors
and frames along the corridor be field labeled with a 20-minute fire protection rating. The existing
doors are 1 ¾” thick commercial grade, solid core wood doors and the existing hollow metal door
frames are constructed of steel. All corridor doors have been equipped with closers and smoke
seals.
Guardian Fire Testing Laboratories Inc. has field certified and labeled the doors and frames, with the
exception of (3) doors that require minor repairs and (1) door that requires replacement. The
Contractor has engaged Guardian to field certify and label the remaining doors immediately
following the minor repairs and door replacement. The Contractor has ordered the 20-minute fire
rated replacement door as per specification section 081416-2.1-B of the Contract Documents.
To the best of our understanding the doors and frames as installed meet the 20-minute fire
protection rating.
Very truly yours,
Brian L. Barker AIA LEED AP BD+C
