Be : Petition ## 318 - 89 -57 Gentlemen : This is in response to your June 26 , 1989 request for addition - al information concerning the above referenced petition . 1 ) Drawing SP- 1 dated 3 / 14 / 85 is attached showing site plan and details . 2 ) We request the 7 " - 101' finished ceiling height be included in our request for variance . We were advised in writing by the Town of Queensbury Building Department that " Height at 7 " - 6 't under 100 people OKI' . The basis for relief is the same as our original application . 3 ) Exhibit ## 4 ( original application ) Modifications to Pro - posed Construction contains items that we feel go above and beyond the standard requirements . We are lay people to the advances in fire safety construction and would welcome recommendations and ideas from the professionals in your office . 4 ) The building was proposed and planned for future second floor occupancy . Had we been aware that occupancy would not be allowed , the original design would have been altered . r PAGE TWO We feel the occupancy classification system does not treat us fairly or serve its intended purpose in this parttcu� tar case . It is our opinion that the public occupying our 1800 square feet of second floor would present less of a potential hazardous situation than the following activities permitted on second floors in the same type construction : a ) Day care centers . b ) Hotels , motels , lodging houses , fraternities , sororities . c ) Same floor plan opened up as a mezzanine . d ) Adult residential care facility . e ) Apartment houses , f ) Community residences . g ) Businesses . h ) Retail sales . The above permitted activities obviously allow sleeping , cooking , multi - family , transient traffic , and people whose movements may be limited to occupy second floor areas in the same construction as ours . The building is priceless to all those over the 135+ years that have made the Bay Road Presbyterian Church a part of their lives . The renovation work and new fellowship hall work undertaken in 1985 cost in excess of $ 300 , 000 . 00 . As you can see from the site plan attached , the only feasible addition to the building would be to therwest . This would require the relocation of the building ' s septic tank and leach fields . This would also take away from the parking area which is already at a premium . To duplicate 1800 square feet on the first floor level , relocate the septic system , and replace the lost parking area , we would estimate an expense of $ 140 , 000 . 00 . It is the goal of Bay Road Presbyterian Church to donate 50% of its budget to outside missions . We are currently in 1989 at a level of 35% of our operating budget being given to various missions and programs in the United States and throughout the world .
