RE: MEADOWBROOK ROAD BRIDGE RECONSTRUCTION
I HAVE PREPARED SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE MATERIALS NECESSARY TO
COMPLETE THE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE MEADOWBROOK ROAD BRIDGE .
AS YOU KNOW, THERE ARE SEVERAL -PRESSING REASONS TO REPLACE
THE EXISTING STRUCTURE .
1 . `THE EXISTING STRUCTURE CONSISTS OF FOUR 7 ' DIAMETER
CORRUGATED, GALVANIZED STEEL PIPES . THESE PIPES ARE IN PLACE
WITHOUT PROPER SEPARATION AND, AS SUCH, WILL NOT HOLD THEIR
STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OVER THE REQUIRED LIFETIME.
2 . OBTAINING PROPER SEPARATION OF THE EXISTING PIPES WOULD
REQUIRED RELOCATION OF A NEWLY INSTALLED WATER MAIN.
3 . THEMAXIMUM SPAN OF THIS FOUR-PIPE BRIDGE WOULD BE ALMOST
40 ' AND WOULD INTERFERE WITH THE PRIVATE DRIVEWAY ON THE SOUTH SIDE
OF THE BRIDGE AND MIGHT POSSIBLY UNDERMINE A UTILITY POLE AND AN UNDER-
GROUND TELEPHONE CX 'LE..
I, THEREFORE, RECOMMEND THAT THE TOWN BOARD SOLICIT BIDS FROM
QUALIFIED SUPPLIERS FOR THE MATERIALS DESCRIBED IN THE SPECIFICATIONS .

AS DIRECTED BY THE TOWN BOARD IN AUGUST 1980 I HAVE CONDUCTED
A MONTHLY INSPECTION, FOR 6 MONTHS, OF THE SEPTIC SYSTEM ON THE
ABOVE PREMISES. DURING THESE INSPECTIONS THERE HAS BEEN NO APPARENT
OVERFLOW OF EFFLUENT.
THE REASON FOR THIS OBSERVATION MAY BE FOR ONE OF TWO REASONS .
FIRST, OF COURSE, MAY VERY WELL BE THAT THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN CORRECTED.
THE SECOND REASON COULD POSSIBLY BE ATTRIBUTED TO THE UNUSUAL DROUGHT
IN WEATHER. THIS COULD BE ALLOWING THE SURROUNDING GROUND TO ABSORB
MORE MOISTURE THAN NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES WOULD.
RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED,
