412.2013 ACO Firearm in workplace RESOLUTION ADOPTING POLICY ALLOWING POSSESSION OF FIREARMS IN THE WORKPLACE BY ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER RESOLUTION NO.: 412, 2013 INTRODUCED BY: Mr. Ronald Montesi WHO MOVED ITS ADOPTION SECONDED BY: Mr. John Strough WHEREAS, the Town of Queensbury employs a full-time Animal Control Officer(ACO)who is a duly appointed Dog Control Officer in accordance with the New York State Agriculture and Markets Law Article 7 and applicable Town local laws or ordinances, and WHEREAS, the Town's ACO and the Town Clerk have requested that for reasons of safety and effective animal control, that the ACO be authorized to carry a weapon and use non-lethal ammunition while in the course of his duties, and WHEREAS, the Town Board wishes to allow the ACO, if properly licensed to do so by an appropriate State or Federal agency, to have a personal firearm in his possession while in a Town vehicle or while performing his official duties, and WHEREAS, the Town Board wishes to adopt a Town Policy allowing and controlling possession of firearms in the workplace by the ACO, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Queensbury Town Board hereby adopts the "Town of Queensbury Policy Allowing Possession of Firearms in the Workplace by Animal Control Officer" substantially in the form presented at this meeting, and BE IT FURTHER, RESOLVED, that the Town Board further authorizes and directs the Town Supervisor, Town Counsel, Town Clerk, Town Animal Control Officer and/or Town Budget Officer to take any action necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution.
