October 2. 2009 and Tuesday. October 13. 2009 we inspected your existing absorption system at you residence located at 20 fox road. Based on information you provided to us and our site investigation we have made the following observations: 1. Mr. Kovacs stated that he has had a toilet that has been intermittently running due to possible sediment in the water system. 2. We observed standing water; which exhibited the characteristics of effluent, along the west side of the property line near the northwest corner of the absorption system. 3. The distribution box was exposed and appears to be level. Observation of the distribution box shows some flow back into the box from the upper most absorption lateral. 4. Locations of the absorption laterals were found using a probing rod and it was determined that three (3) possible four (4) out of five laterals had fence posts which protruded into the stone lateral. We recommend the following repairs to the absorption field: 1. The faulty toilet must be repaired immediately and the septic tank pumped out to allow the absorption field time to recover. 2. The absorption laterals should be exposed along the fence line and a minimum of five ft of absorption lateral on either side of the fence line should be removed and replaced with new pipe and stone. Based on our conversations with Mr. Kovacs and our site investigation it appears that the absorption system has malfunctioned due to fence posts being installed through the absorption laterals and effectively rendering slightly more than half the absorption field ineffective. Please call me if you have any questions. Sincerely, Thomas R.
